The Canada Ice Bear On 28 January 2010 the Canadian Ice Bear was carved in front of the Quebec City Hall, featuring in the Québec Winter Festival. Mark Coreth and Duncan Hamilton worked alongside accomplished Inuit sculptors Peter Boy and his brother Juanasie Jack from Puvirnituq in Nunavik Territory. See gallery. The Ice Bear's journey then took it to Ottawa (12-22 February) where it stood close to the parliament building as part of the Ottawa 2010 Winterlude festival. See gallery. The Ice Bear has now reached Montreal (23 February), where it will melt as the centre of the environmental organisation Equiterre's campaign to raise the Canadian public's awareness of climate change. |
